Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said "over 750,000 kids have already benefitted from affordable childcare because of the investments [the federal government has] made," during an announcement in St. Thomas, Ont. on Monday.

"Some families are saving over $14,000 per child per year because of the investments we've made. When we talk about fairness for every generation, this is what we mean," Trudeau said.

"Here in Ontario we'll invest over $200 million in childcare infrastructure to create more spaces and more access for Ontario families," he added.

Trudeau made the announcement alongside Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development Jenna Sudds, and Minister for Women and Gender Equality and Youth Marci Ien.
