In an Ipsos poll done exclusively for Global News ahead of the upcoming federal budget, a majority of Canadians, or 82 per cent, said they want to see a reasonable plan for a timely return to balanced budgets.
Over 60 per cent said they’re “ok” with the government running whatever size of deficit is necessary to get through the pandemic.
Canadians also weighed in with their priorities for the upcoming federal budget, with 43 per cent of Canadians saying they would like taxes reduced for low and middle-income earners.
Only 38 per cent said they want taxes hiked for the wealthy. Twenty-eight per cent called for increased spending on programs to reduce poverty.
