The debate continues over recent changes by some provinces' policy changes in schools requiring students seek parental consent if someone under 16 wants to go by another name or different pronouns.

Some argue it's about getting parents more involved in their children's lives at school, but some 2SLGBTQ2+ members say the changes could create more danger for youth, as the reactions by some parents to coming out are not always positive.

Sean Previl reports on what the community had to say and why it's not about opposing parental rights, but giving them a safe environment to explore their identity without facing possible opposition at home.
