Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards held a media briefing on Saturday following a Hurricane Ida damage tour in the parishes of St. Tammany, St. Helena and Livingston.

Gov. Bel Edwards said there are currently 3,246 people who have been displaced by the storm and are housed in 28 shelters. He said they are currently working to re-unite loved ones.

The governor also said they were monitoring a system moving into the Gulf, but said its too early to say if it will pose a threat or not.

Ida was the fifth most powerful storm to strike the U.S. when it hit Louisiana on Sunday with maximum winds of 150 mph (240kph), that killed at least 46 people.

On Friday, U.S. President Joe Biden toured the region and promised $100 million in relief aid to residents of Louisiana that includes $500 to each person.
