U.S. President Joe Biden detailed his administration’s response on Thursday as the remnants of Hurricane Ida dumped historic rain over the tri-state area, flooding homes and washing out roads in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Biden said at least 11 people had died as a result of the storm in New York and New Jersey.

The president assured governors in the tri-state area that his team and FEMA are on the ground, ready to provide assistance. Biden also said he’ll be travelling to Louisiana on Friday to survey the damage from Hurricane Ida, and has been assured that his presence will not hamper recovery efforts.

Ida was the fifth most powerful storm to strike the U.S. when it hit Louisiana on Sunday with maximum winds of 150 mph (240kph).
