Shadow culture secretary Lucy Powell says the home secretary's use of the term migrant "invasion" is "deeply irresponsible."

Suella Braverman used the word in the House of Commons to describe the challenge of tens of thousands of asylum seekers crossing the English Channel in small boats to enter the UK.

Earlier, immigration minister Robert Jenrick urged politicians to be careful with their use of language when talking about migration.
