Home Secretary Suella Braverman insisted the government will "always seek to uphold international law" as she unveiled her controversial new legislation aimed at stopping migrants travelling to the UK in small boats.

Ministers have admitted the plans "push the boundaries of international law".

Under the measures, anyone caught arriving on a small boat will be banned for life for applying for UK citizenship.
