According to GO transit in Toronto, a CN network-wide system failure affected all rail corridors on Tuesday, impacting those looking to return home.

“GO trains, VIA trains in and out of Union station, as well as CN’s customer service portal, all of which require an internet connection to CN’s servers, are currently impacted,” a statement to Global News said. The rail service added that CN trains, Amtrak trains and Montreal’s EXO trains are currently operating.

At the onset of the outage, around 1 p.m. ET, Metrolinx said all GO trains were being held at the nearest stations while crews worked to resolve the issue. Shortly after 3 p.m., limited service returned to the UP Express and designated GO Transit lines. However, Metrolinx continued to encourage customers to look for other options amid the outage.

Global’s Kayla McLean has more of the details.
