All US outbound flights have been grounded until at least 9 AM Eastern Time (1400 GMT) as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) worked to restore its Notice to Air Missions (NOTAM) system, which alerts pilots of potential hazards along a flight route.
It said the delay would "allow the agency to validate the integrity of flight safety information".
