Canada's Innovation Minister François-Philippe Champagne, alongside other federal ministers, announced five measures on Thursday in Ottawa to help combat high grocery prices, following a recent meeting with the country's top grocery CEOs.

"There is a whole of government approach and no tools are off the table, no measures are off the table," Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland said.

Measures announced include increasing competition, price matching, price freezes, investigating "shrinkflation," and working with Canada's Consumer Affairs Bureau.

The government would also establish a special grocery task force to monitor whether the chains were living up to their commitments to keep food prices under control.
