Five people, including three children, were hospitalized after a stabbing near a school in Dublin's Parnell Square on Thursday afternoon.

Of the wounded, a five-year-old girl sustained serious injuries and is in “critical condition,” with the other two children and an adult male being treated for less serious injuries, according to Superintendent Liam Geraghty of the An Garda Síochána (Irish Police).

An adult female in her 30s is also being treated for serious injuries.

The injured male — in his 50s — is currently considered a “person of interest” in the investigation. Geraghty also confirmed the police are not currently looking for any other suspects in the knife attack.

Despite the investigation being still in its “early stages,” Geraghty confirmed that there is “no terror-related activity” and that the stabbing “appear(ed) to be a standalone attack.”
