COVID-19: Will UK revert back to restrictions with new variants? Health minister gives his take

Britain’s Secretary of State for Health and Social Care Sajid Javid was questioned by lawmakers during an accountability hearing on Tuesday after the country lifted its Plan-B COVID-19 restrictions.

Dr. Luke Evans, Conservative MP for Bosworth, questioned whether the country would revert back to restrictions if other variants were found. Javid said Britain would likely stay away from restrictions, instead focusing on vaccines, anti-viral treatments and testing.

“It’s about having defences that we didn’t have before and just as the flu doesn’t stop society and stop life, we must not let COVID do that anymore,” Javid said.
