As COVID-19 cases reach record highs in Atlantic Canada, provinces are facing difficult decisions to prevent their health systems from being swamped.

With almost 3,000 active cases, Newfoundland and Labrador's top doctor says the province can no longer identify every positive case and contact, as it has successfully done for the past two years.

Meanwhile, New Brunswick is nearing an average of 1,000 daily new cases.
