COVID-19: Canada should prioritize 4th dose for adults 80+, long-term care residents, NACI says

Canada should prepare for “the rapid deployment” of a second COVID-19 booster program over the coming weeks, prioritizing adults aged 80 and older and residents of long-term care or other congregate settings, according to the National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI).

The advisory body advised that a fourth dose (second booster dose) should be given six months after the previous dose.

The new recommendation comes as public health indicators tick upwards across Canada, with health experts warning that a sixth wave of the pandemic has begun. Jamie Mauracher reports.
