Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is pleading with Canadians to reduce their contacts as much as possible as coronavirus cases continue to surge across the country. He warned that Canada's future is on the line, as new modelling revealed the country could see up to 60,000 COVID-19 infections a day this year unless critical changes are made.

The prime minister acknowledged that people are tired of the pandemic and its restrictions on their daily lives, but said adherence to public health measures is more important now than ever before.

David Akin reports.

Plus, Ontario is pulling the trigger on tougher COVID-19 measures, as Toronto and Peel Region head back into lockdown next week as infections skyrocket.

Mike Drolet explains the new rules on gatherings and businesses, the exceptions and the reaction.
