In North Bay, Ont., public health officials are trying to contain an outbreak of one of the more contagious new COVID-19 variants.
Ontario has now confirmed more than 230 cases of the variants. They were first identified in the United Kingdom, South Africa and Brazil. Scientists are working to better understand the new strains, which are more transmissible, and tweak vaccines to protect against them.
Outbreaks like the one in North Bay, coupled with the slow COVID-19 vaccine rollout and questions about whether the variants can evade vaccines are causing a whole new set of concerns. Abigail Bimman reports.
