Ontario Premier Doug Ford spoke from Toronto Pearson International Airport on Tuesday, where he discussed vaccine shortages and mandatory COVID-19 testing for air travellers.

Ford said Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the federal government should be “fighting for our vaccines for Canada,” adding that it’s “the single number one job right now.” The Premier said Monday during a briefing that the federal government notified them on Friday that Ontario would receive no Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine dose deliveries this week, and to expect a smaller amount the following week.

Ford also called on the government for mandatory COVID-19 testing for travellers flying into the country.

“It’s absolutely critical that the federal government makes sure that it’s mandatory to get tested both ways - a pre-flight test and when you arrive, another test,” he said.
