On Tuesday, Canada's Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland will make a housing announcement alongside Justice Minister Arif Virani and Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow.

Freeland is set to present the fall economic statement to the House of Commons on Nov. 21. The statement will focus on housing and affordability within a fiscally responsible framework with “three principal objectives.”

Meanwhile, last Tuesday, the Canadian federal government pledged to build over 2,800 homes on six surplus properties across the country, as part of a larger commitment to making way for the development of around 29,200 housing units on federal lands by 2029.

Both the Liberals and Conservatives are pushing for greater affordability in the lead-up to the fall economic statement.
