Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos announced on Friday that as of Nov. 30, fully-vaccinated people returning to the country will no longer be required to provide a negative PCR COVID-19 test if their trips are shorter than 72 hours.

The announcement came as the government was pressed to drop the PCR test requirement for short trips as people were showing their pre-departure test results upon entry.

The government also announced that Pfizer’s COVID-19 pediatric vaccine shipments will start arriving in Canada as early as Sunday, and all 2.9 million doses will be delivered by the end of next week.

This came following Public Health’s approval of the vaccine for children aged 5-11 years.

During Friday's press conference, Minister of Public Safety Marco Mendicino announced that as of Jan. 15, 2022, people who are currently exempted from entry requirements to Canada will no longer be allowed in without being fully vaccinated.

Those include people coming to Canada to reunite with family, international students, professional and amateur athletes, people with valid work permits and essential service providers.
