Devastating flash floods triggered by torrential rains have killed hundreds of people in Afghanistan.
Officials say the northern region of the country is worst hit, with dozens of deaths in the Baghlan and Takhar provinces.
Mourners buried their dead Saturday, where one person said he lost five members of his family.
“We were standing on the other side of the flood, but we could not help them, and eventually the flood took the lives of our loved ones,” he said.
A rescue operation is underway evacuating residents stuck in flood affected areas, a government spokesperson said.
In April, at least 70 people were killed from heavy rains and flash flooding in the country.
