Moments after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, planes were grounded and thousands of airline passengers unexpectedly found themselves in the town of Gander, Newfoundland and Labrador.

In all, 38 planes landed in the small community, with almost 7,000 passengers left disoriented but pleasantly surprised by the kindness the people of the quiet town of 10,000 showed them.

The kindness of the town's residents became the impetus for the Broadway musical "Come From Away." Ross Lord returns to the close-knit community, 20 years later.
