Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will hold a joint conference on Friday in Ottawa, Canada. The two leaders are expected to discuss how Canada can further assist Ukraine in defending itself against Russia, nearly two years after rockets started raining down on Kyiv.

Zelenskyy arrived in Ottawa on Thursday night and is planning to travel to Toronto to meet with business leaders and attend an event, the Prime Minister’s Office said.

Trudeau has been advocating for Ukraine's assistance at international gatherings such as the G7, G20, NATO, and this week's UN General Assembly.

During the UN General Assembly on Wednesday, Trudeau called for a complete withdrawal of Russian troops and the establishment of a peace pact that "respects the UN Charter, is based on international law, and preserves Ukraine's territorial integrity."
