Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy fought back tears as he talked about his family on Friday while marking the one-year mark of the Russian invasion.
Asked what he found most difficult during the past year, Zelenskyy said it was not spending enough time with his family.
“I love them; my wife – with all my heart – my children, are the most important people for me. I do not see them often. My parents, I do not see them at all,” he said.
Zelenskyy said he was proud of his wife who has chosen to remain in Ukraine as the war continues. He said what matters most to him was that he “not disappoint them.”
