Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly addressed the United Nations (UN) as it marked the one-year anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, telling dignitaries “there’s no option but victory” for Ukraine.
Joly said Canada would be there to support Ukraine “for as long as it takes” and said it would also help Ukraine to recover when the war ends.
She called on the UN to address the psychological impact of the war with “the same seriousness and urgency as the physical scars” and support survivors in seeking justice.
Joly said Canada welcomes Ukraine’s case against Russia at the International Court of Justice and supports the efforts of the International Criminal Court in Ukraine.
