Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accused Russia of conducting a double-tap strike on Zaporizhzhia on Thursday, that destroyed buildings and killed at least one person.

He also accused Russia of "nuclear blackmail" over its seizure of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in southern Ukraine.

Russia captured the plant in March, shortly after invading Ukraine. The plant is Europe's largest, and Ukrainian staff have continued to operate it.

The region of Zaporizhzhia is one of four in Ukraine recently annexed by Russia. Ukraine says it will never accept the illegal seizure of its territory by force, while Kyiv and the West said the referendums were rigged votes held at gunpoint.
