A punishing winter storm has struck much of the United States, bringing heavy snow and tornadoes that have packed a powerful punch.

Many roads across Texas are still blocked by debris and fallen power lines, while hundreds of homes and businesses in the Houston area were damaged or destroyed.

“The firefighters literally had to hold me up; I was weak at the knees, crying – it was devastating,” said one woman after seeing the damage done to her home.

Jennifer Johnson reports on the storm and the impact it is having across the U.S.
