WestJet pilots poised to walk off the job over pay dispute

WestJet pilots are already picketing airports on their days off, but they’re poised to walk off the job on May 16 – just in time to complicate travel plans for the long weekend.

The Union representing 1,700 pilots flying for WestJet and Swoop says the two sides are far apart on job security, working conditions and pay.

WestJet is owned by deep-pocketed equity firm Onyx. The company says their pilots are fairly well compensated among their Canadian peers.
