Waukesha Police Chief Daniel Thompson said on Monday that suspect Darrell Brooks will be charged with five counts of homicide after driving through a Christmas parade in the Wisconsin city on Sunday, killing five people and injuring nearly 50 others.
The suspect was fleeing the scene of a domestic disturbance, minutes before police arrival, when he drove into the crowds, according to police.
The chief said police believe he acted alone, and that there was no evidence of domestic or international terrorism in the incident.
Police said the five killed were four women aged 79, 71, 52 and 52, and one a man, aged 81.
