Waukesha Christmas parade crash: 18 children in hospital after SUV plows into crowds

A day after a speeding SUV killed at least 5 people and injured nearly 50 as it plowed through a Christmas parade in Waukesha, Wis., hospital officials said that they have treated 18 children, including six who remained in critical condition and three in serious condition on Monday.

Three sets of siblings were among the injured being treated at Wisconsin Children's hospital, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Medical Director Dr. Michael Meyer said.

Waukesha Police Chief Daniel Thompson said on Monday that suspect Darrell Brooks will be charged with five counts of homicide after he was fleeing the scene of a domestic disturbance, minutes before police arrived when he drove into the crowds, according to police.
