WATCH: With adult support, COVID-19 may offer kids a chance to be 'more resilient'

Throughout human history, children have survived terrible experiences like war, natural disasters and school shootings. Some studies suggest that it is possible for kids to thrive under tolerable stress when supported by an adult caregiver, said Dr. Jack Shonkoff of Harvard University's Center on the Developing Child in a conversation with PBS NewsHour correspondent William Brangham. "We should feel lots of hope that it's not like a whole generation is going to be lost," Shonkoff said, while noting that we should worry about vulnerable children "a lot."
