Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., suggested there’s a “common pattern” of law enforcement, including the U.S. Secret Service, not following through on corrective action after a critical security failure.

The New York Democrat questioned Secret Service director Kimberly Cheatle in a House Oversight hearing Monday about the attempted assassination of Trump at a July 13 campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Ocasio-Cortez shared lawmakers’ frustrations at Cheatle's lack of answers for their questions nine days out from the shooting.

Ocasio-Cortez said as someone who’s “experienced an enormous amount of threat incidents,” she’s seen how law enforcement agencies would launch an independent investigation after a big failure, promising a report a couple months later, “and then nothing really occurs from there.”
