Rep. Diana DeGette, D-Colo., spoke Feb. 11 as House impeachment managers continued to present evidence for why the Senate should convict former President Donald Trump of inciting an insurrection for his role in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. Trump was impeached by the House in January, while he was still in office.

DeGette presented video and statements seeking to show that the perpetrators of the attack believed that Trump directed them to storm the Capitol. “Footage from inside the Capitol shows when the insurrectionists first got into the building and confronted police, the mob screamed at the officers that they were listening to President Trump,” DeGette said.

In one video clip, a member of the mob said in an interview, “I do not feel a sense of shame or guilt from my heart from what I was doing. I thought I was following my president. I thought I was following what we were called to do.”
