One of the world's largest religious gatherings is returning to full strength after three years of pandemic restrictions. More than 2 million Muslims are expected to make their way to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, for his week’s Hajj pilgrimage.

Making a Hajj to Mecca is one of the key tenets of Islam. Muslims are expected to make the pilgrimage once in their lifetimes if they are physically and financially able to do so.

This short was produced by Nicole Ellis, Tim McPhillips, Dan Cooney, Julia Griffin and Yasmeen Alamiri.
