Alberta health minister Jason Copping announced Wednesday that wastewater data is showing initial signs of increasing COVID-19 transmission in the province.
Copping made the announcement during the province's weekly update on COVID-19. in the province.
Positivity rates in Alberta from PCR tests range from 21.7% to 27.1% according to Copping.
"Given that we have lifted the vast majority of public health measures over the last seven weeks, it is not unexpected that we are seeing a slight increase in transmission of COVID across the province." Copping said.
There are currently 964 people in hospital with COVID-19, including 47 in the ICU.
The minister also announced that 30 deaths related to COVID-19 had occurred over the previous week.
