Unvaccinated are 24-times more likely to be hospitalized for COVID-19, Moore says | FULL

Providing an update on the COVID-19 situation in the province on Tuesday, Ontario’s chief medical officer of health Dr. Kieran Moore said unvaccinated people were seven times more likely to be infected from COVID-19 and 24 times more likely to be hospitalized.

The province reported 581 new infections on Labour Day Monday and 564 on Tuesday. The provincial total now stands at 570,778.

Moore also commented on the reopening of schools across the province, urging parents to screen their children for COVID-19 “every day.”

He said the province is introducing an electronic record to streamline the reporting process in schools, to keep track of how many students have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
