Quebec Premier François Legault announced Tuesday that the province has dropped its plan to impose a health tax on the unvaccinated, saying that the plan would have divided Quebecers at a time when they need to come together.
“Right now we need to build bridges, to listen to eachother,” he said.
Legault said during a briefing on the COVID-19 situation in the province that hospitalizations continue to decrease, though he said they are not yet out of the woods.
He said the province would reopen gyms and spas on Feb. 14 at 50 per cent capacity, while allowing sports and “artistic events” to continue for groups of up to 25 people.
