UK rejects ‘uncontrolled immigration’ despite labour shortages

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has insisted that the UK's ongoing crises over petrol shortages and rising costs are part of an "adjustment" period.
Speaking on the first day of his political party's annual conference, the Prime Minister said the UK was moving away from a "tired, failed old model" and toward a high skilled high wage economy.
But anti-austerity protesters warned that rises in the cost of living are threatening to undermine all that.
