England’s chief medical officer has said the country is past the peak of the second coronavirus wave, yet the daily infection rate remains high, at around 20,000. And, although the number of cases has dropped by some 25 percent since last week, the expert says it might be months before the UK’s national healthcare system is out of the woods.
