Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his new cabinet post-shuffle are arriving to Prince Edward Island for a three-day retreat on Monday.

Trudeau, down on the polls to Opposition leader Pierre Poilievre, is trying to get back on the political track and looking for ideas from experts to deal with two key issues: affordability and the economy. A number of experts will be attending the retreat to speak to the cabinet about those issues.

The other big issue at the top of the cabinet’s agenda is the ongoing wildfire situation in British Columbia and the Northwest Territories, where tens of thousands have been evacuated for safety.

Global's Mackenzie Gray is in Charlottetown as the federal cabinet retreat officially gets underway.
