Trudeau speaks ahead of National Liberal Caucus Winter Retreat | LIVE

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is expected to deliver opening remarks at the National Caucus Winter Retreat in Ottawa on Friday.

Liberal members of Parliament are meeting to strategize about their priorities before Parliament returns next week on Monday. The three-day caucus retreat began yesterday with gatherings of the party's women's and Indigenous caucuses.

The federal party's caucus chair, Brenda Shanahan, says the three-day caucus retreat offers MPs a chance to put forward new ideas. Shanahan added that affordability is their first priority.

Trudeau's cabinet kicked off a separate three-day retreat in Hamilton, Ont., earlier this week to discuss their priorities ahead of Parliament’s return as well. The cost of living and the economy were also main focuses of discussions, according to a news release from his office.
