Fanned by strong winds, wildfires are destroying huge swaths of pine forest on Italy's central Adriatic coast.
Tourists and residents have been told to leave coastal areas of mainland Italy and Sicily.
Firefighters say they faced hundreds of flare-ups in populated areas in the past few days but are starting to get some under control.
