Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau delivered remarks and held a media availability in B.C. on Tuesday, a day after he attended a memorial ceremony marking one year since members of Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc learned 215 suspected unmarked graves had been found near the former Kamloops Indian Residential School.

During this press conference, the prime minister reiterated his government's housing strategy, previously outlined in the most recent federal budget.

When asked about the long lineups and backlog for passport applications and renewals across Canada, Trudeau told reporters on Tuesday that his government has already started taking action. He alleges that the hiring process of 500 new passport workers began last December or January to address an impending backlog as global economies continue to open up following the pandemic.
