Trudeau faces questions on BC floods, inflation as Parliament returns | FULL

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his Liberal government faced questions on both the floods in British Columbia and inflation as MPs met in Ottawa on Wednesday for the first question period of the new Parliament.

A new poll exclusive to Global News found almost 80 per cent of Canadians are concerned that inflation will make everyday things less affordable, and Trudeau was confronted with about questions of rising inflation.

"We will continue to work hand-in-hand with provinces, including Conservative provinces like Alberta that realize that moving forward on ten dollar-a-day child care and indeed cutting child care costs in half for families as soon as this coming January will make a huge difference in affordability for families. On top of that we are moving forward to make even more investments to counter the housing crisis," Trudeau said of rising inflation.

Trudeau also addressed the flooding disaster in B.C., saying the federal government "is in close contact with provincial authorities to make sure we're prepared for any further aid required. Federal resources have been on the ground since the very beginning and now have up to 500 CAF (Canadian Armed Forces) members on the ground sand bagging, rescuing livestock, providing food and support to remote communities," the PM said.
