As Parliament returns in Ottawa, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will attend the first question period of the year, where he'll likely be pressed on his plan to tackle the cost of living, inflation, and federal health spending, among other topics.

The NDP say they plan to push the Liberals to fulfill the terms of their agreement, such as the planned expansion of federal dental care, while the Conservatives led by Pierre Poilievre will focus on trying to get the government to rein in its spending.

Members of Parliament are sitting in the House of Commons on Monday for the first session of 2023 after retreating with their respective parties to strategize their priorities.
