Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced on Tuesday a “strategic partnership on raw minerals” with the European Union during a joint press conference with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and President of the European Council Charles Michel.

He said the agreement will focus on securing the supply of critical minerals needed in certain green and technological sectors.

Trudeau also said that Canada has signed a mutual recognition agreement with the EU under the CETA trade agreement to simplify border procedures.

The prime minister also announced the “Canada-EU dialogue on health,” a program aimed at sharing more information, identifying emerging health threats and working on advancing people’s health, including mental health.

The Canada-EU summit also saw discussions on vaccine accessibility, cyber-security and climate change.
