New Zealand has the worst school attendance when compared to our neighbours and friends, Australia, the UK, even the United States.

The Government's calling it a truancy crisis and has unveiled an attendance plan to get students back to school - including, the possibility of fines.

Labour leader Chris Hipkins was the Education Minister during much of the decline over the past few years and joined Breakfast this morning saying there are different cohorts of students missing school and the focus needs to be on all of them, not just one group.
