Chris Hipkins is shutting down claims from Prime Minister Christopher Luxon that the Labour Party is to blame for the Government failing to fund new cancer drugs. Thirteen new cancer medicines promised by the National Party during its election campaign weren’t funded in this year’s budget.

The Coalition has criticized the Labour Government for leaving a $1 billion hole in funding for Pharmac’s current drug programs. However, Chris Hipkins argues that promising the medicines without securing funding was ‘just cruel.’
