Tropical cyclone Shaheen continued to approach Oman on Sunday, with its outer bands already bearing down on the country on the Arabian Peninsula and leaving roads underwater due to heavy rains. At least three people have died, including one child who was swept away by water.
Two workers were also killed when a hill collapsed on their housing area in an industrial zone, the state news agency reported.
Vehicles were submerged by the waters in parts of the capital, Muscat, and flights were delayed due to the storm. The storm's centre was expected to hit land during the late afternoon and evening. More than 2,700 people have been put up in emergency shelters.
