Toronto police inspector Keri Fernandes said during a Wednesday press conference that multiple pedestrians were struck by a single vehicle in the city’s east end, with at least one person who was treated at the scene and three others who were transported to the hospital — one of whom succumbed to her injuries.

According to police, the pedestrian-involved collision happened in the parking lot of an apartment building parking lot at around 12:40 p.m. in the Victoria Park Avenue and Cassandra Boulevard area, just north of Lawrence Avenue.

Fernandes said the homicide team is investigating because there is “some information” that these people were struck “intentionally.” Fernandes added that all the victims were adults, but did not know their “demographics.”

The driver involved – an adult male – has been taken into custody, but Fernandes said that there was “no information” on a motive at the time.
