President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador officially welcomed Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and U.S. President Joe Biden to Mexico as they gathered for the "Three Amigos" summit on Tuesday.

The three heads of state, who were accompanied by their wives, stood side-by-side as they took the traditional "family photo."

Obrador challenged Biden to end an attitude of “abandonment” and “disdain” for Latin America and the Caribbean as the two leaders met on Monday, making for a brusque opening to a summit of North American leaders.

Biden said North American countries need to strengthen supply chains to combat Asia, during a meeting with Trudeau earlier on Tuesday.

The three leaders are expected to hold hours of talks on migration, both legal and illegal, and border security during talks on Tuesday.
